Japan visa requirements for Philippine passport holders

What travelers need for Japan: the document checklist, when to start, and how fees are handled — followed by the questions travelers ask most.

How this page stays honest: visa programs change, so every allowance and rule here is one we re-verify with you at booking — before you pay for anything. Last reviewed September 16, 2026.

What to prepare

  • This is the one we run end to end for you through Japan's official application center.
  • Japan's eVisa — currently only for travelers on package tours arranged with designated agencies, single entry up to 15 days, shown on your phone at the airport. We tell you at booking whether your trip qualifies for the paperless lane.
  • Multiple entry: up to five years for tourists with travel history and financial documentation. The final grant is Japan's call, and a multiple-entry request can come back single-entry.

When to start

Officially at least five working days after the embassy accepts the application; longer if they ask for more documents. We file early.

What it costs

Japan reworked its worldwide visa fees July 1, 2026, and the embassy's Philippines-specific announcement was still pending as of mid-July. The visa itself has historically been issued gratis to Filipinos; we confirm the live fee situation with you at booking rather than quoting a number that may already be wrong.

Visa FAQ

Visa questions for Japan

Do I need a visa for Japan?

Yes — but this is the one we run end to end for you through Japan's official application center.

Is there an online option?

Yes, Japan's eVisa — currently only for travelers on package tours arranged with designated agencies, single entry up to 15 days, shown on your phone at the airport. We tell you at booking whether your trip qualifies for the paperless lane.

How long does it take?

Officially at least five working days after the embassy accepts the application; longer if they ask for more documents. We file early.

Can I get multiple entry?

Yes — up to five years for tourists with travel history and financial documentation, and Japan runs faster tracks for professionals and frequent travelers. The final grant is Japan's call, and a multiple-entry request can come back single-entry.

What about the fees I saw in the news?

Japan reworked its worldwide visa fees July 1, 2026, and the embassy's Philippines-specific announcement was still pending as of mid-July. The visa itself has historically been issued gratis to Filipinos; we confirm the live fee situation with you at booking rather than quoting a number that may already be wrong.

Are these visa requirements for Philippine passport holders?

Yes. Everything on this page applies to Philippine passport holders. Traveling on a different passport? Message us and we'll confirm exactly what applies to you.

Do you handle the visa for me?

It depends on the destination — each destination lists who files what. Either way our team walks every traveler through it, and we confirm the current visa fees and requirements with you at booking, when they're live rather than quoted from an old page.

How long should my passport be valid?

At least six months beyond your return date, with at least two blank pages. That is the safe standard for Filipino travelers on every destination we sell, even where the destination itself asks for less.

What does immigration ask for at arrival?

Your return ticket (covered by the package airfare) and your hotel confirmation (covered by our bookings). Some destinations add a digital arrival card or proof of funds — the per-destination sections cover each one.
